This was a very good play for a large age difference in cast. We had seniors down to 5th grade in our main cast, and our extras were elementary students as young as first grade. The writing allowed for laugh lines, the premise left plenty of room for creative stage business and we were able to stage without the benefit of curtains. Small areas dividing the stage in thirds worked well. Costuming was as creative as we were willing to make and much was with makeup, allowing the students to learn creative face painting as well. A good play for a small school with diverse ages or a larger school with students all the same age.

This is a cute script that students can have fun with. This is great for large casts (especially with new actors) and companies that need minimal-set shows.

Synopsis

The Extraordinary League of Horrible Monsters is a work of fiction. Really. We all know monsters don’t exist. Right? But maybe... just maybe... when the lights go out, and the storm rages, and you forget to look under your bed, or check the closet... there might be something lurking or shuffling or shambling toward you…. Any resemblance to persons or monsters you may know are merely coincidental. Promise.
